Join us at Chase Public to welcome recently named Poet Laureate of the State of Ohio, Dave Lucas, for a reading in Cincinnati. Joining Lucas, local writers Megan Martin and Mark Mendoza.
Dave Lucas - is the author of Weather (Georgia, 2011), which received the 2012 Ohioana Book Award for Poetry. Named by Rita Dove as one of thirteen “young poets to watch,” he has also received a “Discovery/The Nation Prize and a Cleveland Arts Prize. In 2018, he was named the second Poet Laureate of the State of Ohio. A co-founder of Brews + Prose at Market Garden Brewery and Cleveland Book Week, he teaches at Case Western Reserve University and lives in Cleveland, where he was born and raised.
Megan Martin - is the author of the tiny fiction collection NEVERS (Caketrain 2014) and a book of prose poems, Sparrow & Other Eulogies (Gold Wake 2011). She teaches at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and lives in a weird house in Northside with three bratty cats.
Mark Mendoza - is a cultural worker, social historian and activist. His work has appeared in AND, The Gig, Quid, Cul-de-Qui, The Poetry Project Newsletter, Shearsman, Plantarchy, Against the Current, Neon Highway, Compost, Pages, Streetvibes, Verse, The Northside Review, and The Rialto special issues on younger British poets. He is currently writing a study on British civil society and the literary sphere, 1789-1848.
