Guard Your Digital Privacy

  • Chase Public 1569 Chase Ave Cincinnati, OH, 45223 United States (map)

You care about your privacy, but it's easy to feel overwhelmed about all the files, photos, financial information and messages on the online services and devices you use. Get a better grip at this class on digital privacy at Chase Public.

You'll practice making strong passwords you can remember by using password recipes and dice. You'll be introduced to programs for your computer and smartphone that can create and securely store your passwords. And you'll prepare to change your password habits so you don't go back to "12345678".

You'll also learn how to use online devices more securely. Learn the dangers of coffee shop WiFi, insecure messaging platforms, phishing emails that try to convince you to sign in to real-looking websites, and web ads used to track your online activity. Do some basic threat modeling with us and decide what you need to protect the most.

This free class is led by Chase Public's Nathan Swartzendruber. He's taught technology in public libraries and university classrooms. His password keeper is currently storing 927 items.
